"I work to get paid, I don't pay to work"

The Foundation's ongoing effort to prevent erosion of the 40-year-old Texas Right to Work law widened today with yet another worker named Ramona Trevino standing up to forced union dues.

When will union officials learn that Texans don't want them messing with their Right to Work"

If you haven't yet, take a look at the inspiring story of Juan Vielma, a brave Texan who stood firm on principle against forced union dues in the face of immense pressure. Refusing to cave, Juan told his home town newspaper, "I work to get paid, I don't pay to work."

Couldn't have put it better.

right to work

what the folks in texas fail to say is that the unions increased their wages and benefits by 100 % over the last few years!

Haha. I woke up down today. You’ve cehered me up!

Right To Work

I am astounded that Texans are sticking to their guns, to basically support slavery. That's right, right to work states are extending slavery. Poor conditions for workers continue and the public health is low because there are very few industries that are allowed to have any sort of union, or self-governing body. Leaving it up the the Texas Government ensures that unless a worker is at the top of the food chain in a large business, their needs and grievances are ignored. Double this for the entertainment industries, which are granted no protection by the State Attorney General or the Governor whatsoever. So give it up! What I wouldn't do to get into a Union here!!!

Constitutional Rights

The right to join a union or any other organization is a right guaranteed by the United States Constitution. A right to work law does not infringe on that right but protects workers from being compelled to join or support a union.

Organized labor wants to convert the right to join into an obligation to join.

If that policy were extended to other first amendment rights such as the right to worship, it would become the obligation to worship. That is not an America that the authors of the Constitution would recognize.
